Stopping the Striving: How to Trust God on Your Healing Journey

Are you caught in the healing journey trap of research and control? Sarah Phillipe shares how to move from performance to peace by trusting God with your health.

Stopping the Striving: How to Trust God on Your Healing Journey

Have you ever felt like the more you learn about your health, the more overwhelmed you become? It is easy to fall into the trap of believing that if you just find the right supplement or the perfect protocol, you can finally feel safe again. But for many of us, the pursuit of a healing journey has quietly shifted from a path of restoration to a exhausting performance of control.

Moving from Control to Stewardship

When we face chronic symptoms, our natural instinct is to go to war. We listen to podcasts at 3x speed, fill our cabinets with supplements, and join every Facebook group available. While being an informed advocate for your health is valuable, there is a subtle line where research turns into a frantic attempt to outsmart our own biology.

This "striving" is more than just a mental burden; it has a physiological cost. When you operate from a place of fear and a need to control the outcome, you keep your nervous system locked in fight-or-flight. As Sarah explains, a body that does not feel safe cannot focus on deep repair. Healing isn't a machine you can optimize—it’s a process you must receive.

🎙️ "The body is not a machine to be optimized. It is a person to be cared for."

Why Your Root Cause Strategy Might Be Stalling

Many women dive into intense detox protocols before their bodies are ready. If your foundations aren't in place, the most advanced treatment in the world won't yield the results you're looking for. Your body has its own set of survival priorities that often differ from your own goals. You might want clear skin or more energy, but your body prioritizes opening drainage pathways and regulating the kidneys first.

To see real progress, we have to honor our bio-individuality. Your story—including your genetic makeup, toxic load, and emotional history—is unique. Comparing your timeline to someone else's success story only fuels the cycle of stress that keeps you stuck.

The Spiritual Heart of Functional Health

At its core, the obsession with control is often a spiritual struggle. We know theologically that God is sovereign, yet we live like we are the ones responsible for manufacturing the outcome. Reframing your approach through the lens of biblical health means shifting from the driver's seat to the passenger seat.

Stewardship is the middle ground between passivity and control. It means doing the "next faithful thing"—drinking clean water, getting sunlight, and nourishing your gut—while leaving the timing and results in God's hands.

Foundations Over Protocols

Before you add another supplement to your cart, consider these unglamorous but essential basics:

  • Drainage Pathways: Are your liver, kidneys, and bowels moving well?
  • Nervous System Regulation: Are you spending time in a parasympathetic (rest and digest) state?
  • Mineral Support: Is your body depleted of the basic building blocks it needs for energy?
  • The Sabbath of Rest: Are you allowing your body and spirit to exhale?

🎙️ "Your job is not to force the healing. Your job is to steward the temple and trust the healer."

Take the Next Faithful Step

This week, I invite you to pay attention to your "control triggers." When you feel the urge to Google symptoms at 11:00 PM or buy a new protocol out of panic, stop and ask: "Lord, what am I trying to control that I am meant to be surrendering?"

You don’t have to figure it all out today. Healing happens in the quiet, faithful moments of trust. If you're ready to see where your body needs support without the overwhelm, listen to the full episode and consider taking the first step with my free resource.
