Explore the profound strength found in surrendering control to God, emphasizing active trust and worship in the journey of healing.

The Beautiful Undoing: Choosing Surrender Over Control
If there’s one word that has shown up time and time again on my own healing journey, it’s this: surrender.
Not the kind the world talks about, where surrender feels like weakness or giving up.
But the kind that Jesus calls us to—the kind that says, “Not my will, but Yours be done.”
The kind of surrender that is strong, sacred, and wildly freeing.
If you’ve ever clung to control because you’re afraid of what will happen if you don’t…
If you’ve tried to manage, fix, push, or “figure out” your way through a hard season…
If you’ve ever wondered, “Where is God in all of this?”
Then this post is for you.
What Is Surrender, Really?
Surrender isn’t passive resignation.
It’s not saying, “I guess this is just my fate.”
It’s active trust.
It’s saying, “God, I don’t understand… but I believe You do.”
It’s handing over the steering wheel with trembling hands and whispering, “Take me where You want me to go.”
It’s choosing faith over fear, even when nothing makes sense.
And most of all, surrender is worship.
It’s laying down your plans, your timing, your need for answers… and declaring that He is still good, still sovereign, and still worthy of your trust.
Why Surrender Is So Hard
Because deep down, we all want control.
We think that if we can just do enough, know enough, or plan well enough, we can protect ourselves from pain or disappointment.
But friend, control is a counterfeit comfort.
It offers the illusion of safety—but it can never give us peace.
Only Jesus can do that.
And the longer we cling to control, the more exhausted we become.
It’s like trying to carry a burden we were never meant to bear. No wonder we feel tired, anxious, or spiritually dry.
Jesus gently invites us:
“Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
Rest comes after surrender.
What Are You Still Holding Onto?
Take a moment and ask yourself:
- Are you trying to control the timeline of your healing?
- Are you anxious about outcomes you can’t predict?
- Are you gripping tight to an identity, a dream, or a relationship that God may be asking you to release?
- Are you believing the lie that surrender means failure?
Here’s the truth: Surrender isn’t losing—it’s trusting.
It’s trusting the One who sees the whole picture and loves you more than you can comprehend.
The Fruit of Surrender
When we lay it down, something holy happens.
Our hearts soften.
Our souls breathe again.
Our hands open wide to receive what He wants to give.
And we begin to walk in peace—not because everything is fixed or figured out, but because we’re finally aligned with the One who holds it all together.
Surrender says, “Even if… I will still trust You.”
Even if the healing takes longer than I thought.
Even if the answer is different than I expected.
Even if I never fully understand why.
Because He is still worthy.
Because He is still good.
Because He is still enough.
A Prayer of Surrender
Father, I surrender.
I lay down my plans, my striving, my fear, and my timeline.
I release control and make space for Your perfect will in my life.
Teach me to trust You more deeply, even when the way is unclear.
Help me to rest in Your presence and find peace in Your promises.
I believe You are working all things for my good and for Your glory.
I choose surrender today—not as weakness, but as worship.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Final Thoughts
Sister, God is not asking you to have it all together.
He’s simply inviting you to give it all to Him.
Healing, purpose, timing, restoration—it’s all in His hands.
So if you’re weary of holding it all together, let this be your permission to let go. Not into nothingness, but into the arms of a loving Father who is able to do immeasurably more than you could ask or imagine.
You don’t have to carry it anymore.
Surrender is the doorway to peace.
